The Steward(ess) - Laundry has the following duties and responsibilities:
- To learn, understand and apply the Yacht Procedures, SOLAS Training Manual, Captain’s Standing Orders.
- To participate actively to safety trainings organised by the Chief Officer/Safety Officer.
- Operate washing machines, dryers, irons, presses and steamers safely and in accordance with manufacturer instructions.
- Wash, dry, press and return guest garments, crew uniforms, linen and towels in a timely manner, ensuring guest laundry is returned properly pressed and presented.
- Care for delicate fabrics and designer garments, following care labels and identifying items requiring specialist cleaning ashore.
- Maintain the laundry in a clean and orderly state, reporting any faults or damage to equipment to the Chief Stewardess.
- Maintain proper stowage, rotation and issuance of linen and working stores.
- Maintain an inventory of laundry products and detergents, and ensure adequate stock levels are kept on board.
- To receive and follow training provided in food and personal hygiene and food handling and storage.
- Assisting with housekeeping and service duties if instructed by the Chief Stewardess.
