The Chief Steward(ess) has the following duties and responsibilities:
- To learn, understand and apply the Yacht Procedures, ISM, Captain’s Standing Orders.
- To participate actively to safety trainings organized by the Chief Officer/Safety Officer.
- The cleanliness and general upkeep of all public areas, passenger accommodation, dining areas and public rooms. This includes maintenance of fabric and materials, and organizing maintenance or specialist care for any defect within the luxury interior.
- Supervise, manage the interior crew that have been assigned to them and ensure that training is given as required.
- Maintain proper stowage and issuance of linen and working store.
- Provide an efficient laundry service and to maintain the laundry in a clean and orderly state, reporting any faults or damage to equipment.
- Maintain an inventory of cleaning materials, stationery, office and other interior supplies.
- Liaise closely with the Chef to ensure high levels of food and service.
- To receive and follow training provided in food and personal hygiene and food handling and storage, and to support all crew members in adherence to the required standards when preparing, serving and storing food.
- Ensure all crew and guest fridge and freezer temperatures are recorded daily.
- Ensure the interior team are properly presentable as required by their duties and that any medical condition which could be transmitted to guests is reported to the Master.
- Assist all guests in cases of emergency.
- Maintain up to date records for all the guests and crew including medical histories, next of kin details and other relevant information.
