Permit to Work
Introduction
Based on the risk assessment findings, appropriate control measures should be implemented to protect those who may be affected. Permits to Work are formal records confirming that control measures are in place during specific operations.
There are many types of operations onboard where routine actions of one person may inadvertently endanger someone else, or when a series of action steps need to be taken to ensure the safety of those engaged in a specific operation. It is necessary to identify the hazards before work begins and ensure they are eliminated or effectively controlled.
The officer designated as the safety officer is required to record and store executed Permits to Work into Deepblue© to demonstrate that the safety culture is maintained at all times onboard the yacht.
The DPA will check proper and regular use of Permits to Work in order to satisfy the safety management controls during onboard audits.
